Seattle slump causes shake up behind Kraken bench

By Bobby Orr (Seattle Kraken) On Saturday 13th January 2024 / 6:05pm

Seattle's recent 1-6-3 run has spurred Kraken GM Bobby Orr to fire coach Darcy Tucker and assistants Shane Corson and Jiim Korn. Coaching duties will be taken over by the GM himself until a replacement can be named. " Darcy has out in a decent effort here and has tried to instil a winning culture" said Orr, "but we expected to be in the middle of a wild card race and its clear we arent."

The Kraken GM has went out a got a true number 1 goaltender with the aquisition of Alevandar Georgiev from the Blue Jackets. Logan Couture was also aquired from the Nordiques to fill the number one centre roll. These moves led to a climb up the standings after the initial deals but the last couple weeks have seen the club drop to the bottom of the west. Goal scoring has been a problem all year for the club so the Kraken are looking for someone to spark some production.

Orr has also opened the doors for trading as hes seen enough and expects to make a few deals before this years trade deadline to support the core of this club. Orr also expects his time behind the bench to be brief as its rumoured hes in contract talks with a new benchboss as of this writing.

Nordiques Leading the League...

By Chris Ralph (Quebec Nordiques) On Monday 20th November 2023 / 4:47pm

... in trades, of course.

Having made league leading 11 trades last season, between the off season and so far this season, the Nordiques have made another 11 trades.

While the obvious focus is on building to the future, head coach Peter Foppa Forsberg has employed and undeniably effective team strategy with everyone left on the roster abiding by.

With the win today, team is back up to a .500 winning percentage, which is quite impressive of given the youthful nature of the roster.

Foppa stated in a recent interview he is most impressed and proud of the team's goal differential, currently sitting at a +7, good enough for eighth best in the league, ahead of some high power teams.

Foppa tends to sidestep questions on individual players, but he could not help but smile when asked about the impressive performances of his franchise bluelines Dahlin and Hughes. He also had rave reviews of Tommy "Don't Call Me Djokovic" Novak and their $10 million man Kuzmenko, who has, coincidentally, 10 goals and 10 assist in 19 games so far this season.

It is rumoured less than 10 of current team actually have purchased real estate in Quebec City, never knowing when GM Chris Ralph will pull the trigger on yet another deal. Stay tuned.

Foppa also wanted us to highlight Nordiques have 2nd best PK in the league. He's happy GM Chris Ralph hasn't yet traded super defensive forward Nic Dowd - yes, that Nic, the one with 2 D in a four letter last name - that's how good he is on defense.

How to move forward?

By Mike Senske (Detroit Red Wings) On Saturday 18th November 2023 / 8:17am

JGHL Red Wings coach Steve Yzerman is pleased with the results of the team. GM Mike Senske added some pieces to make the team competitive this year, however the team right now is exceeding expectations in the standings. When asked about the Wings surprising start, coach Stevie Y stated:

We have a bunch of guys who have grit, you know. It starts with Brady leading the team and he gives his best every night. But then we have guys like Matty Martin, Jack the ripper Mcbain, even Michael Rasmussen has stepped it up this year, Corey Perry and Reavo on the Griffins who are ready to compete at a moments notice when we go against a team where we want to bang bodies, and we definitely want to bang some guys up.

With the Wings currently holding the first wild card spot, fans have started to wonder, how will the team move forward with this season? Sources say GM Mike Senske is going to have to decide if he wants to add pieces to the team, and that he is already shopping around for a top 6 winger to acompany the first line with Hischier and Tkachuk.

More to come....

Stevie Y always keeps things intriguing...in the J and in our parallel universe, the NHL.

Coach Foppa have the Nordiques sneaking in out East, with similar dilemmas. News story to follow...

Roadrunners making a push

By Tim Harrison (Columbus Blue Jackets) On Wednesday 15th November 2023 / 2:30pm

The AHL Roadrunners have been the class of the AHL for the last 10 games. Since the acquisition of Spencer Knight they have been on a tear. Winners of their last 9 of 10 games things are looking brighter in the Jackets system. Winter Kent Johnston and Knight have been playing stellar hockey. The strategy and structure of their game has improved ten fold. Coach Dave Semenko has implemented some new structure in their game and they have become a force.

Dave said the team has responded well to the changes and looks forward to coming to the rink. You can see their confidence building every game.

Sens Strong Start In Question

By Hunter Jones (Ottawa Senators) On Friday 10th November 2023 / 10:39am

Ottawa has started strong on the year. Quality play from veterans Jamie Benn and Pierre-Luc Dubois has carried the team to a 9-4-1 start. With 6 player in double digit points after 14 games the team has really bought in to the scoring by commity system put in place by coach Daniel Alfredsson.

The issue begins more recently. After losing 3 of their last 5, all to fellow Atlantic Divison rivals, the team seems to be retuning to earth. With new additions Adam Henrique and Jake McCabe the hope is that the team can shore up their lack of defense so far this season. In two games vesus Boston this season, they have been outscored 11 - 7. If this team wants to make the post season this year that needs to change and fast.
